What is COMAC?
COMAC is a Shanghai-based state-controlled firm. It was launched in May 2008 with an initial investment of 19 billion yuan (US$2.78 billion). Various state-controlled entities including Aviation Industry Corp of China (AVIC) have invested in the company. COMAC is already paving the way for international cooperation and representation. It plans to set up overseas subsidiaries in Europe, the United States, Hong Kong and Russia to market the regional jet internationally.
